Yorkshire Dales Classic Car Club

David Halstead's MG

When this car was built in 1960 it was exported to South Africa, and remained there for 39 years before returning to England in 1999.

In March 2001 we purchased the car and brought it to Yorkshire from Bournemouth. At the time the car was to factory specification with a 1600cc engine and a 4 speed gearbox.

As the car is petite and curvy we decided it had to be a 'she' and we named her Marilyn. We had quite a number of enjoyable outings in her before things started to go wrong. It was decided she would benefit from a upgrade, so in 2015 she went away and returned in 2018 after having a full nut and bolt restoration. She now has a MGB 1800cc engine and a Ford type 9 gearbox.

Since coming out of restoration she has only done 2,000 miles, and she drives like a dream!

It is our intention to get as much use as possible over the coming years.
