2023 Coronation Party 7th May

Report by Dave Simpson

Organised by Julie Swales and assisted by our chairman Ian Parminter. The YDCCC coronation run started off on a warm sunny day in the best possible way with bacon butties and hot drinks at the football club to fortify the intrepid crews, of which we had fourteen, a good turnout.

Fully fuelled with tea and food, mostly tops down, off we went, way out west and north, via the usual villages to Yarm and beyond. Circling around the outskirts of Darlington and Barnard Castle, returning via Ravensworth, Richmond and all country roads as usual, back to the football club where the bar was open and a very nice hot buffet of pulled pork and buns or curry. Very welcome after a hard day on the trail.

Prizes were awarded for the best hat to Norma, who must have spent days making her crown and Jim and Janet for their original costume. Jim suits a Pinny, you can tell where he spends his time at home.

Another great club event well organised by Julie and Ian, with any mistakes on the route instructions by Ian and all correct turns by Julie -well, according to Julie.

Members entered into the spirit with a good display of crowns/hats which all made a fun day.
