2023 “Ad Hoc” Evening Run
Report by Paul Woodvine
At the AGM it was suggested that whilst we have a list of the main runs
of the year members could propose and organise runs in between the main
events, this is the first such event organised by Paul Woodvine on this
occasion. ED
An evening run, additional to our programme for those members not going
to Ireland, was arranged for 17th May. The route of around 50 miles
(without straying more than 14 miles from Northallerton) progressed
through twenty villages and traversed one Roman Road.
With instructions to 'don't just follow the Club member in front' some
20 intrepid members in 10 fine cars left Applegarth car park in quick
succession at 6.30pm and were joined in Scorton at 7.00pm by Lynne and
Ellen in the Abarth. The reason for advice re. not following other Club
members soon became apparent...there were different routes, all on
unfamiliar roads, converging occasionally but all finally converging at
The village inn, Brompton for a substantial pre planned hot buffet.
For some reason, probably only known to a few drivers and their
navigators, final mileages varied somewhat to the actual route
mileage.....some lively discussion about who went where (and why) with
much merriment ensued over eats and drinks . An enjoyable drive in fine
weather made for a good evening for all.
