2022 The Four Counties Run
Report
by Kevin Brown
Well, here we go again over the hills and far away.
Sue very kindly planned the route with a little bit of assistance from
me.
To begin coffee / tea with cake yummy. What a nice surprise. Enjoyed by
all I hope, yet Sue when I attempted to ask for the cake recipe, to put
it in her own words, "it's a secret recipe".
It was so nice to see a great turn out and everyone was itching to go.
So, off we all went and believe it or not you all went through four
counties on a great sunny day.
I hope everyone enjoyed the route it was somewhere different, with a few
hills to test one or two cars ha ha! Plenty of corners to battle with
and some amazing views which I hope you all stopped to soak in some
great views of the tremendous countryside.
I had my fingers crossed that everyone would make it to Sue's uncle and
aunts farm. Sue's uncle went above and beyond, he very kindly gave some
great detail of his two classic motor vehicles a 1929 Austin Swallow,
that he had spent over eight years completely rebuilding, to what I
thought amongst others to an amazing standard. The green Austin 7 being
quite a race car in its time and with a top speed of 94mph, brave driver
yet it must have been exhilarating in them days.
The display he gave us in his shed of the old and new Massey Fergusson
tractors gave us all a picture of just how far modern farming equipment
has come on in the last 50 years or so.
I hope you enjoyed the picnic gathering as the sun kept shinning.
Well done all for finishing, both Sue and I hope the run was enjoyable
and found it somewhere a few of you had not been before.
Let's hope the weather says bright for our next venture out.
Take care and enjoy.
On behalf of members that took part a big thank you to Sue and Kevin for
a great run, on roads many of us have never driven on before. A big
thank you too to Sue’s uncle and aunt for hosting the picnic -ED
