2022 Evening Run round Bedale 13th July
Report
by John Gill
Most of the run reports are sent to me by my “roving reporters” so it is
a change for me to write a report. We had a good turn out on the 13 July
despite a number of members being away with the MGOC in Wales and
another preferring to play bowls!!
The run was a scenic trip from Northallerton round the back waters of
Bedale and back to Leeming Bar. Twelve cars met at Applegarth car park
at 6.00 for a 6.30 start.
The usual chat took place as we met. My Dad is 93 now and finds a run of
over an hour, in our bone shaker MG, a bit much, he did come to the
start and enjoyed chatting with members new and old.
At the appointed time Tony and Sheila led the cars away on what was a
warm balmy evening; everyone had their roof down, it promised to be a
pleasant evening.
The run took us north from Northallerton up through Danby Wiske, we
turned east at Arden Hill and headed for Catterick. The views over the
moors towards Leyburn were spectacular, Yorkshire at its best.
All the cars made it back to the Reubens for a meal, the staff had
arranged for us to sit in the conservatory and had arranged the tables
in a big square. That was a pleasant change it meant we could all chat
as dinner was served.
The service was second to none but there was a mix up on Bill Burton his
granddaughter Rosa and mine and Angela’s sticky toffee pudding order.
Bill and Rosa got theirs and there was none left for me and Angela!!
With some negotiation by Sheila and Angela they rustled up two more for
us.
