2018 Bill’s Evening Run - Willies Widdle Wander - 6th June

Report by Sheila Mason

We met at 6.30 pm at the Fox and Hounds car park, there were 13 cars from YDCCC and 3 from Tees Valley Car Club, an excellent turn out considering there were also 5 apologies. We also had an American guest called Suzanne from Oregon. Mavis and Suzanne have been pen pals since they were 15 and are lucky enough to meet up occasionally, one memorable meeting was in America when Suzanne took Bill and Mavis to see Elvis.

Bill gave out the route much to our amusement when we saw the title " WILLIES WIDDLE WANDER" after a quick catch up we left in convoy with instructions to turn right out of the car park and then immediately right, but many headed straight, although, they did return very quickly and headed in the correct direction to Kirby Sigston. It was not long before we were going through our first Ford after Thimbleby. Bill cannot organise a run without the odd Ford! The weather improved as we were travelling, and the sun actually appeared.

We then headed towards the infamous Caydale Mill, another Ford with plenty of water in it! Into and through Boltby and part of the forest and now homeward bound through Knayton and Borrowby. Some of the roads were a single, bumpy, winding track with plenty of grass growing up the centre. Bill always seems to take us through Caydale Mill from a different direction, I'm sure this must be an illusion as surely there can only be two possible entries to any Ford?

This years prize for the biggest bow wave goes to Steve, I think he got second place last year!!

We all arrived back at The Fox and Hounds by 8.20 and then sat down to a well-earned meal, most of us were feeling rather hungry by this time. The Fox and Hounds, as always, looked after us very well and a big thank you to Bill and Mavis for once again organising an excellent run.
