Bill Burtons Morris Minor Saloon

The car was
purchased brand new by my father in 1953 from the Bridge Garage in
Grinton Swaledale; this was the year when Maxwell’s in Northallerton
came on to the market!
He later
sold the car to his father, my Grandad, so he could buy a van this is
why it has been in the Burton Family all it’s life.
When I got
access to it in about 1985 it needed some attention.
Walkers
garage in South Otterington fitted new rear wings and welded parts of
the chassis to get it through the MOT. It was then put away in a garage
in Reeth, where hurricane Charlie totally flooded the whole the garage
was in, and it was left for about 18 months before my good friend Henry
Baier was given the task of totally re-furbishing it back into superb
condition, as it still is today.
Well done
and many thanks Henry, RIP. |
