Cobweb Run - 2nd April 2017
Report
by Dave Simpson
First run of the year and off to a good start. Usual problem with the
English weather though, roof up or down? Roof down on the road to Thorpe
Perrow to meet the club, but we encountered drizzly rain, should we put
roof up, leave it down? The rain might pass, we’ll carry on, sun out,
ah, that’s better.
We arrive at the meeting place, Thorpe Perrow where there is a nice wide
avenue to display the cars. All the crews went to the cafe for a pre
drive coffee.
We came out of the cafe to more drizzle, better put roof up just in
case, more sun roof down again.
A good gathering from the club was swelled by the JDC, they brought out
some really nice cars. We had a good look round all the cars and had the
usual chat about the problems and delights of classic cars before we set
out for a short but pleasant route cross country.
First port of call Leyburn and then Middleham and on to Masham, up into
the hills over Fearby and then the narrow roads to Dennis and Lucy's
ranch at Ilton.
Wonderful BBQ in Dennis's huge workshop there was enough food provided
by Lucy to accompany our sausages and burgers etc.
In conjunction with our friends from the JDC we raised £210 for Médecins
Sans Frontières. Thank you from all members to Dennis and Lucy for their
organisation and hospitality.
A good start to the season long may it continue; we are off to exciting
another season.
