Gordon Bulmer Memorial Run by Sheila Mason - 10th July 2016
Report by John Gill
Gordonís Beloved MG
Firstly can I thank Stuart and Lucy for organising such a good run in
memory of Stuartís farther Gordon, everyone enjoyed the day very much.
We all met at Thirsk Market Place, there were 15 cars and we left at
10.30. The run covered 91.3 miles over wonderful countryside through
Leyburn, towards Richmond through Gilling West, Brompton on Swale,
Scorton past Croft Race Track over Darlington road to the Chequers Inn
,Dalton-on -Tees, arriving at 2pm ready for an excellent lunch.
We had a collection towards our chosen charity -- Pancreatic Cancer in
memory of Gordon, I am pleased to announce that we raised £117 which we
will add to the final amount raise in September.
There was just one slight upset to the day, Tony's MG died 60 miles into
the run, fortunately Ian was there to give us a push, we managed to
arrive at the pub where it died again for good!! We enjoyed our lunch
and then were rescued by the RAC and arrived home on a recovery lorry.
The diagnosis was a faulty alternator, happy to report a new one arrived
2 days later and all fixed by the 15th!!
Thank you once again Stuart and Lucy.
