2015 Evening Run - Pie and Pea Run
We held our third, and most successful Pie and
Pea run on 3 June. The weather was kind to us and we had a great turn
out of some 16 cars.
I was so busy making the arrangements; we only arrived back from France
the day before the run, that I forgot to take any pictures of the
We met in Applegarth car park at 7.00pm for a prompt start, the route
took us up to Scotch Corner before returning to Patrick Brompton via
Catterick Camp. It is difficult at the moment getting across the A1 with
all the road works but it was a different route from previous years.
As an aside you may have noticed a Chieftain Tank on a plinth outside
the Army Headquarters; a few years ago I drove that tank on the assault
course. We were designing the new Cambrai Barracks Tank facilities and
on completion of the project the army said that as a thank you they
would get some tanks out for us to have a “fun” day. I still have the
tank driving licence I got on the day!
Everyone completed the run with no problems and arrived in good time at
the pub, as there were over 30 of us the pub opened the restraint so we
could all be seated in comfort.
I trust everyone had a good evening.
